Formulation Pro is an app for professional hair colorists to keep a private, portable record of their clients' color formulas. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
Your account. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) your phone number and the name and address of the salon where you work. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. Your password is handled and stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text.
Client records you create. As you use the app, you enter information about your clients. This can include a client's name, phone number, email, hair characteristics (such as level, tone, texture, porosity, and gray percentage), appointment history, color formulas and notes, pricing, and photographs of their hair.
Payment information. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores process your payment; we do not receive or store your full card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status so we can unlock paid features.
Technical information. Like most apps, our service providers automatically log basic technical data (such as device type, app version, and error logs) to keep the app running and to diagnose problems.
You decide what client information to enter, and you are responsible for having your clients' permission to store their details and photographs. Please only photograph a client with their consent, and delete their record when they ask. Deleting a client removes their information and photos from our servers.
We do not sell your information or your clients' information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Photos you add are stored in a private, access-controlled storage bucket. They are not public, and are not visible to other stylists unless you deliberately share a client with a coworker, or create a client link (below). Data is encrypted in transit, and is stored on secured servers provided by our hosting provider.
You can generate a private link to send a client so they can view their own color — their photos, their shade level and tone, and any note you add. These links:
Anyone who has the link can view that client's page until it expires or you turn it off, so only send it to the client it belongs to.
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:
We keep your account and client records for as long as your account is active. When you delete a client, their record and photos are removed. When you delete your account or ask us to close it, we delete your data, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal or accounting obligations.
You can delete any client record from within the app at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the email below and we will process your request.
We use industry-standard measures to protect information, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit each stylist to their own records. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly.
Formulation Pro is a tool for professional stylists and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children directly. Any information about a minor client is entered by a professional with the appropriate guardian consent.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond as required by applicable law.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected here.
